But in recent years these professionals seeking other opportunities opt to leave the company In search of career progression. This Issue has given me the motivation to find out the reasons behind this Issue. With this in mind I conducted the research in order to find out the route causes contributing to this problem. This study will show the level of motivation and employee satisfaction within Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan which will enable me to identify said problems, if there are any with regard to the given criteria. If identified to formulate solutions or to give recommendations accordingly. 1. What forms of motivation are available to employees of the Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan? 2. What factors motivate workforce most in the Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan? . What role(s) does motivation play on employees’ performance in Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan? 4. What is the correlation between motivation and employee performance in the Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan? Understanding the importance of employee motivation Increased Productivity: With motivated employees from an internal or from an external source shows passion for work which in turn provides better performance. If motivation is provided employees will work hard to set and reach goals. Companies that offers challenging jobs must provide a framework that lets the employee know that the management rusts their abilities to perform which gives them confidence to complete their given tasks. This sort of attitudes of the work force brings forth increase productivity which is very beneficial for an organization. Bimodal Bath, 2011) Improved Employee Morale: In order to boost employee morale continues motivation is necessary. A work force with high morale is ready to take up any challenge without any issue. This high surface team created in the employee’s mindset provides added values for an organization with less absenteeism and employee conflicts. (Bimodal Bath, 2011) Increase Loyalt y: Increased loyalty is gained by an organization with employee motivation. Recruiting and training new staff is an expensive task for any company therefore a loyal work force is essential to gain a good reputation in the market and to reduce this added expenditure. Chowder, M. (1997),) Better Creativity: The passion towards their Jobs enables employees to express their views and ideas freely. This fact gives them the assurance and the understanding of their important position within the organization so that they can contribute more towards the betterment of themselves that further brings benefits for the company. Enhancing the creative factor is therefore essential and the manages have to design a motivational structure and a leadership style that facilitates employees in providing new suggestions, ideas and methods of expansion with regard to delivering cost effective performance. (N. D. Baboon, 2011) Individual growth and Improvement A motivated workforce takes up new tasks regardless of how challenging it might be and would provide best efforts in completing them. For this reason further learning and training programs are essential. The environment created within an organization tit regard to completion is also an added motivational factor for employees to increase performance. All these factors comes together in forming expertise within a workforce of an organization. These experts and their efforts must be carefully evaluated and appreciated by given the appropriate appraisal and promotion opportunities. Criteria 1: Out of 40 employees, questionnaire has been distributed to 10 males and 10 females as per table 1. 1 below. 1. 1 IP -Increased Productivity MIME -Increased Employability IL -Incrementally SC-Better Creativity GIG -Individual Growth and Improvement years. Most of respondents are found from the age of 18 – 24 range and there are no employees found above 45 years from study area. Table 1. Present the age distribution of employees. 1. BC-Better Creativity 18 years to 24 years category shows tremendous growth of productivity, morale, loyalty, better creativity and individual growth and improvement comparing to other age categories. This category represents teenagers and very young crowd of the company who are mainly working in the operational level and at a trainee level. You read "Managing Human Resources, Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka" in category "Papers" And according to Abraham Moscow in his Hierarchy of Need, those within this category are preoccupied with higher orde r needs such as esteem and self-actualization, having had their lower order needs taken care off (Moscow,1943). Criteria 3: A motivated person has the awareness of specific goals which must be achieved in specific ways; therefore he/she directs its effort to achieve such goals (Nell et al. , 2001). Motivated person has more energy to achieve their specific goals than denominated person. In Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan after observing along the staff categories (Table 1. 3), I have noticed some changes between senior level, tactical level and operational level employees. When productivity and employee morale is considered operational level employees’ progression is higher than others. Tactical level employees’ shows low values in all the categories. At the same time senior level member are showing progression in individual growth and improvement than others. 1. 3 While assessing above situation, we can identify lack of progression in tactical level employees. This means there are some difficulties in that level and there is less opportunity to move forward from tactical level. Factors that Motivate Employees at Work While considering motivational factors which we discussed earlier, the following is an overall assessment with regard to the employees of Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan. According to Herrings (1959), Hygiene factors relate to satisfaction at work and also e suggest that managers can give their employees more authority to their Job and offer them direct and individual feedback in order to motivate and help employees to connect to their work (Wartime,2007). Productivity, morale, individual growth and improvement are higher than other factors. This means most of the employees are performing well and at the same time they are able to do the work with minimum supervision. On the other hand employee loyalty and their creativity have gone down. This will affect the company growth indirectly hence employees searching better opportunities for their career development opt to leave the company. Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan† should take necessary actions to build up employee loyalty and their creativity. The Rennin’s Liker Theory could be adopted in such instances where it mainly focuses on high performing managers changing their perspective and addressing key motivating factors which enables these frustrated employees to change their own perspective and helps them to be accepted in a ‘supportive’ group. Findings Forms of motivation available to workers The motivational packages given to the workforce at Dilemma Travel is considerably inadequate. This situation is substantially worse in the operational level. At the actual level it shows similar trend as to the operational level. The senior management however are entitled to professional allowances, entertainment allowances, as some of the added incentives available to them. The room for improvement and career progression is considerably poor at the tactical level. Employees at Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan confirm that if the working environment is conductive they will be motivated to give better performance. Some of them perceive efficient work. As stated by Herbert (1959) the hygiene factors effects and concentrate on workplace satisfaction. Employee Job Performance: The Role of Motivation Motivation being crucial factor as presented by Robert (2005) a manager’s Job is to ensure the work done through employee is possible. With regard to Job performance the evidence show that encouragement is crucial and conferred to the workforce who will help them to expand and deliver. Reward for Good Work Done At Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan monitory rewards in the forms of overtime allowances and in form of bonuses are provided as preferred forms of motivation. According to Broom (1964) â€Å"people are motivated by how much they want something and how likely they think they are going to get it† It is advisable for the management to reward employees by understanding their desires and structuring their incentives accordingly. Leadership and fellowship Effective leadership is a personal role that requires the blending of motivational, strategic and management skills to align focus, energy and drive whilst creating a culture which encourages individual thinking and attainment. Ultimately leadership is about pushing ideas and thoughts forward, bearing responsibility and aspirations to bring out the confidence of others. Leaders are required to have greater project leadership and influencing skills than in the past. Summary of some key leadership skills: Managerial – keep track of progress against targets and take action on slippage Trustworthy – speak honestly and openly and expect the same from others Aware – understand each individual’s abilities, limitations, motives and drivers Influential – use vision, argument and important stakeholders to sway opinion Visionary – know what needs to be achieved and how to go about achieving it Inspirational – create and bring to life an image of how things can be ASCII (1998) have narrated that ‘Managing People’ a Critical Role for Every Manager, ND when it comes to managing people, all managers must be concerned to some degree. The leaders at Dilemma Travels must focus on the following, Transparent and innovative system of recruitment and induction of employees. Better and extensive training facilities and chances. Programmed / designated on Job training and courses. Strategies implemented to provide mental relaxation within the environment. Audit and control system is standardized. The ‘time management’ in private organization is implemented. Working under innovative concept of efficiency / effectiveness. Flexibility in ideas and procedure implementation. New Technology is given preference. Effective and prompt means of communications are used. Personal welfare and efficiency of employees leads to better out put. 16. Probability of misuse of power. At Dilemma Travels, the leaders are mainly chosen by the qualities and traits approach which states certain people have inherited characteristics or personality traits therefore limited training is provided for the managers with regard to managing people. This poses a number of drawbacks as situational factors and employee behavior within the organization is ignored. Almost all of the managers eve an autocratic behavioral style of leadership that often neglect employee input towards decision making. Many tactical level staff believes that a democratic approach by the managers would be beneficial for employee motivation and for the organization as a whole. An argument can be made for an autocratic method at the senior managerial level where quick decisions must be made and team agreement is not always necessary for a successful outcome. With Linen’s three participatory leadership styles conclude that the most effective style is democratic and extensive alternative styles lead to revolution and denomination. Understanding the situation and formulating contingencies are some key skills that a leader should consider. The three types of forces (situation, follower, and leader) that were identified by Attainment and Schmidt in 1958, understood and used properly could benefit the managers at Dilemma Travels. The main problem that I see is the lack of training provided to the people who considered being leaders of the company. The level of action centered leadership that is needed mainly in the operational and tactical levels of the organization is inconsistent that forces employees to show denominated behavior to work with different managers. When assessing the qualities with the transformational method a leader is able to examine and search for the needs and motives of others while seeking a higher agenda of needs. Acting as the change agent and a visionary a transformational leader is capable of inspiring people and with a clear vision is able to inject enthusiasm and energy. At Dilemma Travels it is ideal to adopt this method of leadership as transformational leaders show integrity, and they know how to develop a robust and inspiring vision of the future. They deviate people to achieve this vision, they manage its delivery, and they build ever stronger and more successful teams. However, managers must often need to adapt different styles to fit a specific group or situation, and this is why it’s useful to gain a thorough understanding of other styles as well. A method must be developed at Dilemma Travels in order to provide this knowledge to the managers with a structured training programmer that will enable them to use these theories for the betterment of the organization. Organizational culture – the â€Å"personality’ of an organization that guides how employees think and act on the Job – is central to the values, beliefs, inter-personal behaviors, and attitudes to stakeholders that determine how the organization does its Job. Culture is a key factor not only in achieving organizational goals, but in attracting and keeping desirable employees, creating a positive public image, and building respectful relationships with stakeholders. In his seminal 1992 work entitled Organizational Culture and Leadership, Edgar H. Scheme, Professor Emeritus in the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, offered a definition of what he called â€Å"an empirically based abstraction†. â€Å"Organizational culture†, he said, is â€Å"a pattern of shared basic assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration. Culture is important because it shapes: What the organization considers to be â€Å"right decisions† What employees consider to be appropriate behaviors and how they interact with each other within the organization How individuals, work groups and the organization as a whole deal with work assigned to them The speed and efficiency with which things get done The organization†s capacity for and receptiveness to change The attitudes of outside stakeholders to the organization In short, an organization†s culture can be supportive of – or hinder – the implementation of new initiatives and the achievement of its overall goals. Does the organizational culture at Dilemma Travels need a change? As highlighted by the study many employees at Dilemma Travels are unhappy with the working conditions and the environment. To solve this issue the best possible way is to start at the core framework of the organization which is its culture and move on to the leadership styles and employee motivation. When an organization is faced by a changing marketplace or regulatory environment, or has identified the need for a shift in strategic direction, the implementation of a new technology, or the introduction of new processes, the established culture may impede progress unless it, too, is changed. For that reason, the success of major organizational change initiatives are almost always dependent on internal cultural change† Edgar H. Scheme. Circumstances change Stakeholder expectations The demographics of the organization change New technologies are deployed A proactive method must be adopted at Dilemma Travels in order to bring this hanged. A step-by-step top down approach could be b eneficial for the organization in this regard. Design and Build phases of implementation Visioning session(s) with key stakeholders and consultation assessment (performance against plan) Leadership coaching action planning Team renewal (team-building) Change readiness Identification enrolment of change agents within the organization Identification of impacts of new technology processes on individuals agent training Employee Workshops Implementation stage Executive briefings on the initiative Change leadership plan Communication plan Orientation session for project team members Training plan for team members Change leadership training Team building sessions Leadership alignment The deliver and operate face Workforce transition support including related HER policies programs training performance evaluation compensation reward and recognition career development and planning Skills gap analysis Change The management should ensure that communication process should flow in all directions, upward, downward, in parallel to reach outsiders results. For the operational level staff providing added rewards along with their monthly alarm would be an ideal method to increase motivation. The poorly structured working schedule for all the level of employees is another issue that needs to be addressed. Identifying employees living condition, traveling methods, non-work related commitments and responsibilities an arranging possible methods to create a better scenario is another contributing factor to increase motivation. Creating new Job opportunities which will help the current employees with regard to career progression is one of the essential steps that could be taken to keep the expertise within the company Leadership needs assessment for improvement. For improvement of behavior skill and traits of personality to perform better leadership roles. Positive reinforcement methods must be taken with regard to new innovative ideas. At the present stage an employees efforts to contribute new ideas to a certain department or the company itself is constantly met with an indulgence but a pathetic approach by the senior management. (Negative Reinforcement) This contributes to discouragement of making further suggestions and may even consider of leaving the job. In an instance, by comparison if an employee is encouraged to assisting in the placement by providing new ideas (Positive Reinforcement) would benefit and generate better ideas. When considering distribution of rewards the management must understand that each employee idea of an ideal incentive would be different from another. It is prudent for the management to reward workers according to their hearts desires than providing them with something that may not please them. Which intern creates a denominating factor believing that they are not properly compensated for their efforts The research shows that many employees of Dilemma Travel Sir Lankan would How to cite Managing Human Resources, Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka, Papers

The Great Depression( Canada) free essay sample

Most people had little to nothing. Single men where forced to live on the streets and sleep in jails or go to a relief camp, the average middle class citizen lost all savings and many had possessions repossessed, as the following quote illustrates, One man, now trying to support a wife and three kids on wages that in august average $15. 00 to 18. 00 for 52 hours had lost his house, a building lot which he had invested, a 15 year endowment policy and about $800 of savings. Middle class and poor people during the great depression where so poor that they had to barter their children for food, . However, for a person with money, the great depression was the best time to be alive, everything was dirt cheap because of the oversupply and under demanded. But, however great there difference in capitals where, middle and upper class citizens still had a yearning, to an extent, for the governmental administration to some how end the depression which the masses where suffering through. We will write a custom essay sample on The Great Depression( Canada) or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The relief camps which where run by the Canadian federal government during the sasss in no way served to better the fallen economical state so much as it served to further depresses the human sprit. They where treated as cheap labor instead of citizens who where willing to work and had farming skills. We where sit. Dirt. Slaves.. . What else would you call a man who is given ;.NET cents a day and expected to believe there bullwhip that where an important part of the country. The relief camps offered almost identical if not worse conditions as living on the streets those failing as relief from the conditions to which these people came from and acted more as a jail. 4 It was jail -you know. What else would you call it? All the fresh air and sunshine o could stand [but minimal entertainment] As can be seen by the above statements, relief camps served more as prisons for men committing no crime more then acting as relief. Relief payments act as another great example of inadequate response by the Canadian government to end the depression.Where usually given as vouchers which banks would not accept making them worth nothing and providing no relief. In all Ontario cities for which relief has been issued in kind or in orders rather than in cash Rules that had to be followed to get relief payments acted as more of a deterrent for prouder peoples instead of just outlining things that had to be done to get these payments. 1. Prove that you are not able to support yourself and that no relative can help 9. Allow relief office investigators to come to your home to check on these rules. Payments varied in quantity from province to province as they did sometimes region to region. Show signs of a bad administration because cost of living did not coincide with the increases and decreases from one region to the next. The value of food orders for a family of five varied from $3. 50 to $8. 50 weekly in eleven cities. In short, relief payments, though a program tit good intentions, still failed to both give the Canadian economy the kick- start it needed as well as give accurate finical aid to needy Canadians. Protective tariffs proved to be yet another inadequate government response to the falling economy. R. B Bennett hoped to make other countries lower or abolish their high import taxes however, other countries kept their tariff walls and Canada lost more money because lost their edge on the world market. Even without as many foreign imported goods, Canadians still did not buy enough goods to stop the further down fall of Canadian industry . Unfortunately, [tariff walls] failed and Canadian industry continued its tailspin. Also, the newly imposed tariffs made Canada less competitive in the world market , which made Canada loss even more money. As one can conclude, putting tariffs in actually had the reverse affect and made Canada loss money from the decrease in foreign trade. However, one can argue with a degree of confidence that workmens rights might not be in place today if not for the great depression. Franklin Roosevelt probably wouldnt have thought up his new deal which is the basis for workmens rights today and he origin of R.B. Bonnets New deal if the great depression never occurred. The following where the points outlined in this deal an eight hour work day, minimum wage, and unemployment insurance plan, elimination of child labor, control of prices. Employers, without the great depression, would most likely not accept these concepts. Without an example of what happens without these safety nets, employees might not have seen the need for a plan such as this and therefore no one would have looked at this idea until after a depression. Although little support is given as to why the above is true, one an speculate that it is merely human In closing, inadequate attempts made by the Canadian government during the great depression such as relief payments, relief camps and tariff walls where all means of achieving very little if any results at the ultimate goal of ending the great depression for Canadians. However, one can ask, if the great depression wouldnt have occurred during this time, when would a depression Of its magnitude occur next and, without the lessons learnt from the great depression, would the world economical stats ultimately stay depressed?

American Labour Movement Essays - Labor Relations, Business

American Labour Movement Essays - Labor Relations, Business American Labour Movement Tapas K Chakraborty ACWA Role Impact of Organised Labour in American Politics Introduction Th is write-up is an attempt to briefly explain the role impact of American labour movement in the American politics. Efforts are made to throw light on such aspects as emergence of trade union movement, its place in the socio-political structure of America, the hard days, good days as well as bad days of American trade union movement. Issues of labour immigration, globalisation, and inequality have been put in places as required. History Development of American Labour Movement During later part of the 17 th century, America witnessed the beginning of guild led trade union movements by workers from carpentry, printing , cobbling, and other professions. Workers also played a significant role in the independence struggle. England - born industrial revolution had started to spread in America, and with this came in the news of miserable working conditions of British factory workers. During the American civil war, factory system of economy flourished but gruelling income-inequality and grinding poverty emerged as well. Workers became aware of exploitative tendency of employers and felt the need to form trade union-federations. Number of trade unions rapidly increased. Some of the front ranking federations, to name, are National Labour Union; 1866, Knights of Labour; 1869, The American Federation of Labour; 1886, and others. It won't be out of context to mention that a parallel trade union movement not by main stream federations, but by radical industrial workers became suc cessful in scrapping a wage-cut and number of weeks reduction decision by the employers. Their movement and achievement are also viewed as positive contribution to the American trade union movement. In 1935 Committee of Industrial Organisation (CIO) was established as a conglomerate of a number of American Federation of Labour Unions. The CIO under the able leadership made a big stride in American labour unionism and workers of large sector of American basic industries united under this umbrella organisation. Though AFL and CIO had their respective reservation s as regards direction of movement, there were common interest areas for them to work on, and ultimately in 1955 AFL and CIO merged into a bigger inclusive trade union federation. Since 1970s the number of American T rade U nions and their influences , have been steadily plummeting. The new anti-unionism regime came to power in 1980s and exacerbated the down swing. During the period 1975 to 1985 trade union membership dropped by 5 million. Manufacturing sector witnessed a sharp decline of 75% in the number of member-workers during the same period. From 1980s to 2009 organised American labour force in relation to total labour force declined from 17% to 12%. A number of factors are responsible for such decline , like employers' consistent effort to keep industries trade-union free, more and more workers losing faith in organised trade unions, and accepting low paid jobs, and most importantly, income disparity among trade union members and non-members leading to rise in production cost of goods manufactured by industries with trade union presence, and thereby losing out to competitors , and resulting in lay-off of workers in s uch industries. Significance as a Political Actor The American labour movement and workers in general witnessed both political unrest and economic uncertainty, during 1894 to 1915. Industrial revolution that started in Europe entered America, and industrialisation spread unchecked. Newer jobs were created along with newer problems. Three depressions within a span of 20years forced many plants to shut down resulting in unemployment. Industrial dispute was a common-place incident in management-worker relationship. But American labour movement had some significant impact on some major social issues of the 20 th century ; important among them are reasonable working hours and working conditions for the industrial workers, participation of women in the work-force, vacation of workers, and abolition of child-labour. Industrialisation initiated a shift in the social life of America from being agrarian to industrial. The industrial colonies got congested due to large-scale immigration in search of jobs . Living conditions of workers got worsened, and so their wor king conditions, marred by long and strictly monitored monotonous work. The American Federation of Labour (AFL) founded by Samuel

Postal Service Wants to Offer Payday Loans

Postal Service Wants to Offer Payday Loans Even though it loses massive quantities of it every year, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) wants to loan you money. Short-term â€Å"payday† loans are just one of the financial services the USPS has proposed offering though Post Offices in order to serve the scores of American â€Å"unbanked† individuals and families, while protecting them from predatory payday lenders and, of course, bettering its own dismal financial status. According to a report from the USPS’ inspector general, one in four U.S. households lives at least partially outside the financial mainstream without bank accounts or using costly services like payday lenders – and spends an average of $2,412 each year just on interest and fees for such alternative financial services. â€Å"Many of the 34 million financially underserved households - representing 68 million adults - are treading water very close to the economic edge,† wrote the inspector general. â€Å"Unexpected expenses can push them over the brink into homelessness or bankruptcy, which come with broad social and economic costs.† The inspector general estimates the USPS could bring in almost $9 billion a year by capturing just 10% of the $89 billion spent on alternative financial services in the U.S. every year. â€Å"Postal financial services may appeal to many customers who feel abandoned by major financial institutions,† states the report. â€Å"Postal organizations have an unmatched ability to reach consumers from diverse backgrounds.† As the report notes, many international postal services are already garnering significant new revenue by offering financial services. Of course, the USPS also hopes to make money by charging interest on these short-term loans, but at a far lower rate than those charged by traditional payday lenders. USPS Brand Payday Loan vs. Traditional Payday Loans The USPS inspector general suggests the Postal Service could offer short-term – payday – loans with interest rates of 28%, compared to the average interest rate of 391% charged by traditional payday lenders. For example, a person borrowing $375 from a traditional payday lender would end up having to pay back a total of about $896, including $521 in interest and fees. The same $375 borrowed from the USPS would end up costing only $423, including $48 in interest and fees. â€Å"That single loan from the Postal Service could effectively put $472 back into a consumer’s pocket, which he or she could then use on more economically productive expenses,† stated the report. â€Å"If even one-tenth of the 12 million Americans who take out a payday loan each year got this hypothetical Postal Loan instead, they could collectively save more than half a billion dollars a year in fees and interest.† In addition, says the inspector general, short-term Postal Service loans would allow the estimated 10 million unbanked U.S. households which cannot afford high-interest rate payday loans to borrow the money they need. â€Å"There is a wide range of consumers who need access to small-dollar credit, and the Postal Loan could strongly appeal to these different types of borrowers,† noted the inspector general. â€Å"For example, people whose income varies throughout the year, consumers with no other avenues to credit, families with unexpected expenses, and others.† Finally, contends the report, affordable Postal Service loans would help people break the â€Å"cycle of debt,† that forces them to borrow more money to make payments on existing loans. According to a 2104 report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, more than 80% of payday loans are either extended or followed by another loan less than two weeks later. While the â€Å"average† interest rate for traditional payday loans may be 391%, the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) has warned consumers of online payday lenders charging interest rates of 650% USPS Vows Not to Compete with Banks If you own a bank, don’t worry. The inspector general makes it perfectly clear that the USPS has no intention of becoming a bank or even competing with banks. Instead, says his report, in offering small short-term loans and other financial services, the Postal Service would â€Å"greatly complement† the services offered by banks. Correctly noting that banks are closing branches in inner city low-income and rural areas nationwide, the inspector general says the USPS would help banks â€Å"fill the gaps in their efforts to reach the underserved.† And remember, â€Å"The Postal Service also is among the most trusted companies in America, and trust is a critical element for implementing financial services,† he added. Horseshoe Crab Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3250 words

Horseshoe Crab - Research Paper Example One of these species, Limulus polyphemus, is found in North America along the coastline of the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. The remainder are found in Southeast Asia. Despite having the name horseshoe crab, they are not true crustaceans. They are closely related to arachnids (a category that includes scorpions and spiders). Evolutionists coin the species â€Å"living fossils† since their fossils have been found in period that date back to 450 million years. Scientists will hold a different view for the organism arguing that it offers important insights to evolution and species interdependence. Despite the differing opinions about this magnificent creature, a common denominator is that they are important for both coastal communities and human health. In the whole planet, only four species this crab are in existence. The paper will discuss in detail about the horseshoe crab by offering insight from its anatomical features to the ecological habitat. Despite the earliest forms of horseshoe crab inhabiting the planet for millions of years, the anatomical features of these creatures have not changed. Unfortunately, the long, thin spike-like tail makes many people view them as dangerous, yet they are docile or rather harmless. The anatomy of horseshoe crab is one of the notable aspects in the creature. In the topographical description of horseshoe crab, the body is divided into three sections namely prosoma, opisthosoma and the telson. These body sections are sometimes called cephalothorax, abdomen and the tail. Prosoma contains and intestinal tract, an oesophagus and proventriculus that helps in grinding food (Dunlap 54). Also, in the prosoma are a nervous system that is concentrated with a bulbous brain, tubular heart, excretory glands at the base of walking legs and a connective tissue (Fortey 81). Opithosoma contains an intricate network of the musculature that helps in the operation of book gills and the telson. However, the 1 13

BLUE STEEL Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

BLUE STEEL - Essay Example As Turner fights for her badge and cases helped by Detective Nick, she is trying to imagine her relationship with a murder. She decides to spend the night with Mann when she watches her best friend killed. Turner hunts for the killer and after a long confrontation and wounds that she manages to kill Hunt. There are many themes and lessons throughout this file as discussed below. Bullet with her the name of Megan is one most revealed theme in the movie. Eugene recreates the supermarket scene, terms the gun as a lucky object, and puts it in use. Hunt engraves Turner’s name on the bullets, which Hunt uses to kill his victims. If Hunt had no reason for this act then his acts are psycho behaviors yet the blue steel glory sequence connected Megan’s body with her gun’s blue steel. Megan is associated with the killings when Eugene assigns her name on the bullets used in the killings (Tasker, 1998). The film’s exchange of sexuality as illustrated Mann describes a m an cut off his penis in a cab by a prostitute and not her wife. This story reveals the construction of women’s role in men’s affairs when the man’s penis was misplaced. In the story where the hooker has a needle ever ready and skills of sewing reveals the womanly trope of intertwining and male wish for tamed whore. Passing back and onwards of someone’s penis shows the suitable and unsuitable use of phallic power. Exchange of guns at the start of the film connected to the back and forth at the end of the film. Both passing of bullets and penis represents the issue of inaccessible economies operating between both male and female and the care both genders ought to have for their phalluses. Hunt pisses off when he sees a woman shooting a man in the supermarket. Hunt finds in Turner a beautiful person who is able to serve a public violence and this is which is a form of over-recognition. This strange recognition shows the reliance of yuppie devil for his indiv iduality. Such psychotic characters as constructed towards gender of feminine heroes are evident in the film. As the film starts, Megan kills a man on her first day in job and a customer who is already troubled before the shooting started pockets the man’s gun. Curtis’ social life starts when Silver plans for a date but she does not suspect why he is up to her. Another scene is created when Curtis and her father leaves home when Silver comes whose characters are intelligent and sets things up such that Curtis is seen as the killer herself (Freud, 1995). Blue steel is a thriller that has a shock and afterwards a surprise. One feels dumb after moving through the scenes of the film. For instance, Megan meets unexpected horrors by Strode and sexually abused in a brutal rape and made a device of sexual bias and rejected by the whole society. Megan is a new cop and helps prevent theft in a store by shooting assailant who were armed. After the killings, since a customer pocke ted the gun of the assailant killed and therefore Megan is in trouble because the department terms him as unarmed person. Her department disowns her for killing innocent man and Hunt starts killing people in the streets with the bullets engraved with Megan’s name. Movies like this that indulge the psychology, provide more reasons on murderer’s behavior of anti-sociality. In addition, before Megan and Eugene had sex, Eugene asks her to take away the gun
